| FRANCE Gives G7 Countries their First Female Finance Minister |
Christine Lagarde was just appointed France's Minister of Finance. We congratulate her. She will bring her extraordinary talents, charm and eloquence to a country in need of her international skills and experience. Harriet Harman in the UK just won the Deputy leadership of the Labour Party. These appointments come on the heels of women being elected to the top political office in Chile, Germany and Liberia and into the front lines of presidential elections in the US (Hillary Clinton) and France (Ségolene Royale). One can say that the face of the political world is evolving.
Is the business world keeping pace?Companies will be increasingly
hard-pressed to show that they, too, have learned how to optimise
and use theleadership skills and perspectives of the other half of
the talent pool and the other half of the market. Today, women mean
business. And business needs women. It is time for corporate leadership
to keep up with political and social evolutionsand become more gender
